Folding Stock Adapters

The Vigilance Innovations Gen 4 Folding Stock Adapter is CNC machined aluminum with a DLC finish, adjustable hinge tension, a QD sling point and a tool-less bolt carrier extension. It adds 1.3" of length of pull and lets any AR stock fold to the side.

Choosing the Right Stock or Brace

Four checks before you add to cart.

Rifle or Pistol

A stock on a barrel under 16" creates an SBR. Pistol builds use a brace; rifle builds use a stock. Know your configuration and the current law before you order either.

Tube Diameter

All stocks here fit mil-spec 1.148" buffer tubes. If your tube is commercial (1.168"), the stock will wobble. Buffer tube kits in our buffer category are all mil-spec.

Length of Pull

Adjustable stocks give you roughly 10.5" to 14.5" of pull. The A2 is fixed at about 13.5". The folding adapter adds 1.3", so plan for it if you run body armor.

Folding Adapter Fit

The Gen 4 adapter is machined for aluminum lowers. A customer review notes it sat slightly loose on a polymer lower, so polymer-lower builders should expect to snug the set screw.

Color Match

Stocks, braces and A2 kits are stocked in black, FDE and ODG so you can match handguards, grips and Cerakote uppers.

  • Will these stocks fit my buffer tube?

    Every stock and brace in this category fits a mil-spec 1.148" carbine buffer tube. The A2 kits include their own rifle-length tube. If you have a commercial 1.168" tube, replace it with one of our mil-spec tube kits.

  • What does the Gen 4 folding stock adapter include?

    The CNC-machined aluminum adapter with DLC finish, an installation tool, a tool-less bolt carrier extension and a flange. It weighs 4.76 oz, adds 1.3" of length of pull, has adjustable hinge tension, a QD sling point and replaceable O-rings.

  • Can I fire the rifle with the stock folded?

  • Is a pistol brace legal?

    Federal and state rules on stabilizing braces have changed several times. It is the buyer's responsibility to confirm that a brace, and the configuration it is mounted on, is legal at their address before ordering.

  • What is the difference between an A2 stock and an adjustable stock?

    An A2 is a fixed rifle-length stock on a rifle buffer tube with a rifle buffer, giving a long, solid cheek weld. An adjustable carbine stock rides a 6-position mil-spec tube and lets you change length of pull in seconds.

  • Do stocks and braces require an FFL?

    No. Stocks, braces, adapters and slings ship directly to you in all 50 states with no FFL required, subject to state law on the configuration you build.
