AR-10 Handguards & Free-Float M-LOK Rails for .308 Uppers

AR-10 handguards use a larger barrel nut than the AR-15 and must match a high or low profile DPMS upper. AllGoOperators offers 15" M-LOK split rails and 10" slim M-LOK rails installed on our complete .308 uppers, and stocks AR-10 rails as inventory allows. Check this page and our complete uppers for current options.

Two Ways to Get an AR-10 Rail

Buy a rail on its own, or buy it already installed on a complete upper.

01

Complete Uppers With Rails Installed

Every AR-10 complete upper ships with a handguard fitted: the 10" slim M-LOK on the 10.5" pistol upper and the 15" M-LOK split rail on 18" to 22" uppers. No barrel nut torque, no rail alignment.

02

Standalone AR-10 Rails

Standalone AR-10 handguards rotate through stock. Products listed on this page are in stock now. For AR-15 pattern rails, see our AR-15 handguards.

03

Under the Rail

A free-float AR-10 rail needs a low profile gas block, and the barrel sets the rail length.

AR-10 Rail Anatomy

Why AR-15 Rails Do Not Fit

The differences are in the barrel nut and the receiver profile.

Barrel Nut

Thread & Diameter

  • AR-15 1-3/16 x 16 thread on a smaller receiver ring.
  • AR-10 DPMS Larger thread and ring; needs an AR-10 nut.
  • Armalite Different again from DPMS.
  • Proprietary Some rails ship with their own nut and wrench.
  • Torque 30 to 80 ft-lb, same as AR-15.
Receiver Profile

High vs. Low

  • DPMS high Taller upper; the rail top sits higher to match.
  • DPMS low Shorter upper; a high-profile rail leaves a step.
  • Our uppers Rails are matched at the factory.
  • Mixing A mismatched rail still mounts but the top rail will not be continuous.
  • Check Measure from the rail slot to the top of the receiver ring.

Choosing an AR-10 Handguard

Pattern, profile and length.

Pattern

DPMS or Armalite. Our uppers are DPMS pattern. Confirm before buying a standalone rail.

Profile

DPMS high or low profile must match the upper for a continuous top rail.

Length

10" for a 10.5" pistol upper; 15" covers 18" to 22" barrels. Rail must clear the gas block or use a low profile block.

Simplest Route

A complete upper with the rail installed removes every fitment question. Most AR-10 builders go this way.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Will an AR-15 handguard fit my AR-10?

No. The AR-10 barrel nut thread and receiver ring are larger. AR-10 rails are pattern-specific to DPMS high profile, DPMS low profile or Armalite.

  • What handguards come on your AR-10 uppers?

    The 10.5" .308 pistol upper carries a 10" slim M-LOK free-float rail. The 18", 20" and 22" semi-auto and bolt-action uppers carry a 15" M-LOK split rail.

  • Do you sell AR-10 handguards separately?

Standalone AR-10 rails rotate through stock. Any that are in stock appear on this page. Complete uppers with rails installed are always available.

  • How do I know if my upper is high or low profile?

Measure from the top of the Picatinny rail down to the top of the barrel nut ring. DPMS high profile is taller than low profile. Your upper's manufacturer lists it.

  • Do handguards require an FFL?

No. These are small parts and accessories that ship directly to you in all 50 states with no FFL required.
